Case-study Joint Authorities Group (UK)

JAG (UK) home page

The UK wide Joint Authorities Group has members from every local authority in the country. Communication between this disparate community was paramount to the effective working of the organisation.

The Strategy

To create an on-line community that could meet the information needs of the hundreds of organisations participating in the JAG(UK) organisation as contributors and recipients.

What YellowHawk did

Design, implementation, hosting and maintenance of a protected site including:

  • Content Management
  • Member administration
  • Event calendar
  • Meeting management
  • Member profiling and search function - putting people in touch with each other
  • Searchable library for images and documents
  • Discussion forums
  • Editorial newsletter administration and generation
  • Daily email alerts summarising activity on the site and inviting/encouraging members to share their views and experiences.
  • Development of distinct sub-communities with access control and protected content.

The site is managed by the JAG team themselves through the use of YellowHawk Content.Control™ technology.

Outcome

The JAG (UK) site is the latest in a list of richly functional community web-sites developed by YellowHawk. The site was launched in May 2008 with membership rapidly growing. The site has been very well received by both the officers of JAG and by the members and users of the site.
